A Research Journal Exploring Microbes in Living Systems.

How do we generate knowledge that account for complexity and context?

Continuum (noun)
A continuous sequence in which adjacent elements are not perceptibly different from one another; evoking the evolving nature of science and the emergent futures unfolding from it.

MFI Continuum is the research platform of The Microbiome Futures Institute. We publish peer-reviewed science, expert dialogue, and collaborative contributions across human, environmental, built, and planetary microbiome systems.

Microbial life operates across interconnected scales, from molecular interactions within the body to global ecological and climatic processes. MSI Continuum exists to reflect this continuity.

We aim to situate microbiome science within broader systems, so as to build a full contextual picture of the microbiome as a dynamic and consequential aspect of our planet.

Submit your work

We welcome submissions that explore the microbiome, nature, and culture; tracing the intricate relationships that bind living systems together. From essays to reflections, collaborative works to artistic interpretation, we invite perspectives that consider what it means to live within a shared, more-than-human world.

We would love to hear from you.
